fill to the brim

Some new posters for Savino Live, including this year's Easter Sunday Special with Minus One. I wonder when the Easter bunny will finally take up the role as Pope.
Saturday was "Fashion for Smile" day, part of this month's charity events, which Co.Op Strovolou is organizing (and myself designing). The show presented new work by Kika Ioannidou, the fashion designer. For sale, were 250 limited edition t-shirts showcasing the lovely design slogan. Though I could be mistaken to be too high up my fucking ass at the moment, here's a little something to ground both you and I: This is not to say I am against charities, they do serve a purpose, as Žižek says. Deep down, no one really cares about people dying of cancer, hunger, or whatever the media passes on as 'disease of the month'. We are worried though to confess this, more importantly to our Other. Hence, we tend to fortify by employing such word tactics and arguments as: "I give *enter amount here* to Oxfam and/or *enter other non-profit organization [after expenses] here*. Žižek gives a much more clear example than my rumbling with coffee shops that offer some of their profit to third-world countries when one buys two cappuccinos. He goes on to explain that while there is no immediate interest for third world countries, or to be more precise, one does not really care about third world countries, for two cappuccinos one can pretend they do actually care. My thoughts, while tangled in Hydra B' Hall of Hilton Park, were close at range to nihilism.

Meanwhile, in Konia, Paphos, Cyprus, I was having a large break in between appointments, and with the local coffee shop closed and not wanting to burden the old lady that offered a cup at her house, I found this place and sat until time passed, took a photo of a yawning cat and the path that led to god knows what...why, i could be a poet.

Paphos, the sublime & blinds

Most of the days from last week were spent in Paphos, where freelance work came up for a company called Euroblinds. It includes taking photographs of their products as they are set up in several luxury houses all along Cyprus. The final outcome being an elegant catalogue showcasing their best projects.

I've hardly ever seen such expensive paraphernalia in my life (automatic curtains? 3D television at the swimming pool?), let alone being inside the walls they adorn. One such house was built halfway inside a cliff, staring at the beautiful sea of Paphos. The cleaner told me it's used once a year for a month. My, I thought, how the crisis lies heavy on us all.

In any case, it is a nice feeling getting off the screen for a while and doing some work that includes travelling. In between appointments, I take leisure in reading a book, have coffee and eat sandwiches made from home, and take photos of landscapes therefore fulfilling the requirements that make the whole experience bohemian.

SPE Strovolou CD sleeves

This is a marketing trick: It's where I post two photos of a CD sleeve, with the rest of the package visible for added impact, and comment on the fantastic printing, excellent service and fast delivery of Lithotechnic. Unlike your first impression, it would end up not being a marketing trick for Lithotechnic as I would then go on explaining how I ended up contacting printer's and CD duplication companies to produce a batch of 1000 for children's cancer charity, when, I was only supposed to be doing some mere ol' graphics. The story could proceed in me describing how original prices and quality were of lower standards than expected, how the marketing department asked me to use my own contacts, confirm rapid production, lower costs, better quality, and maybe a discount tap on the back for it being charity and all. It'd all end up with a boasted, closing tagline; but my brew is getting cold.
